HE'S OUR BOY

15 October 2015

STAR sprinter Our Boy Malachi enjoyed the winter break at Kolora after his Doomben 10,000 campaign.

The Rockhampton Rocket, who has won 17 of his 21 starts for more than $500,000 in prizemoney, enjoyed stunning himself alongside the Logan River.

He enjoyed a great campaign which included a Group 3 win in Sydney.

Kolora Lodge is proud to be associated with Team Hawkes. John, Michael and Wayne spelled all their winter carnival horses at our property before they returned to Sydney for the spring

TOBY'S TOPS

15 October 2015

GOLD Coast trainer and Kolora client Toby Edmonds has had a super start to the 2015/16 season

Toby has trained 9 winners and collected his owners $280,000 in prizemoney since August 1.

His stable star Sagaronne, who was placed in the Group 1 JJ Atkins, spelled at Kolora in the winter and is now in Melbourne for the Spring carnival.

We thank Toby and the team at Segenhoe Stud for their support.

SHE'S SURREAL

15 October 2015

KOLORA Lodge's very own Real Surreal added some black type two her impressive resume winning the Listed $100,000 Gai Waterhouse Classic at Ipswich during the winter.

The mare's fourth win took her earnings to over $1.3 million.

Trainer Kelso Wood has done an excellent job to get the Magic Millions winner back in the winners circle after two campaigns in Sydney and Melbourne.

Many thanks to Hawkes Racing who sent her back to Queensland in excellent shape.

Real Surreal was bred, broken-in and pre-trained by Kolora Lodge.

SHE IS DEVINE

25 May 2015

PROMISING three-year-old filly She’s Miss Devine busted the $100,000 prizemoney barrier with a strong win at the Sunshine Coast on Caloundra Cup Day.

Starting $4.60 favourite the Kelso Wood trained galloper took her record to three wins from just seven starts with the win.

The Show A Heart filly was broken in and educated at Kolora Lodge and continues a proud record at Kolora of breaking in stars of the future.

Other horses broken in included Magic Millions winner Real Surreal and Group 1 winner Sizzling.

KOLORA TLC DOES THE JOB

25 May 2015

A FRESHEN-UP at Kolora Lodge led to a huge form turnaround for Victorian galloper Escado which finished second in the $175,000 Caloundra Cup.

Escado was sent to Kolora after he failed in the Hollindale Stakes and the Doomben Cup.

Some time out on the Kolora training track, some jumping and some splashing on the water walker led the five-year-old gelding to put in his best run for some time.

We at Kolora Lodge were very excited to see him run so well.

TOBY ON TOP

25 May 2015

KOLORA Lodge client Toby Edmonds is enjoying a stellar season.

The Gold Coast trainer sits in the top five on the Brisbane trainer’s premiership with 20 winners at a strike rate of 16 per cent.

He has trained 30 winners throughout Queensland this year.

That’s impressive numbers by anyone’s standards.

Toby spells several of his horses at Kolora and also has them pre-trained.

We wish him success for the remainder of the season.

MORE GROUP SUCCESS FOR KOLORA

3 March 2015

KOLORA resident Rudy shined on the big time to win the Group 2 $175,000 Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick in December.

Rudy regularly comes to Kolora to use the water walker between runs along with spelling and pre-training at Kolora.

Trainer Helen Page has done an outstanding job with the four-year-old who is poised to shine again at the Championships in Sydney.

“He’s now assured of a Doncaster start so we will have to think about going for that race,’’ Page said.

Kolora is lucky enough to have Helen as one of our main clients.

Congratulations to the whole team!

SIR MAKES THE MOST OF HIS MOMENT

25 November 2014

KOLORA favourite Sir Moments booked himself a spot in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick next month after a dominant win at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Sir Moments, who gets a long way back in his races, produced another scintillating finish to make it six wins from 12 starts.

Trainer Steve O’Dea is a regular client at Kolora and Sir Moments is a regular visitor to spell and pre-train.

Jockey Tim Bell said the horse would measure up to Sydney company.

“He is such a good horse,” Bell said.

“He began better than I anticipated today, and I found the fence and settled nicely.

“It was all over red rover at the top of the straight. He had his usual antics after he hit the lead, pricking his ears, but it was all over by then.”

We wish “Team O’Dea” all the best in Sydney.

HUCKLE BUCKS HIS RIVALS

25 November 2014

SOUTH Australian star Hucklebuck cracked it for Group 1 glory on the biggest stage of all winning the Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington in Melbourne Cup week.

Hucklebuck spelled at Kolora after his brave efforts during the Brisbane winter carnival and we’re excited to have played a part in getting him ready for the spring campaign.

Hucklebuck has now won eight races from 13 starts and busted the $1 million in prizemoney barrier

We hope the boy from Adelaide comes up for another visit in the not too distant future.

SHIRAZ A SHINING STAR

25 November 2014

PROMISING mare Star Shiraz earnt a crack at some black type races after she made it her second win in three starts with a scintillating victory at Doomben earlier this month.

Star Shiraz, like all horses trained by Gillian Heinrich, is pre-trained at Kolora Lodge, has a bright future in the top grade.

International jockey Robbie Fradd said the mare would only get better.

"Once she gets out to the 1600 metres she will be very good,’’ he said.

Gillian has had a very good run in recent weeks. She has trained 19 winners in Queensland this season at a strike rate that’s better than 20 per cent.

It’s a pleasure to have all Gillian’s horses prepared for their campaigns here at Kolora.
