CONGRATULATIONS SCENIC BLAST

25 November 2014

CONGRATULATIONS to start West Australian Sprinter Scenic Blast on being inducted into the Western Australian Racing Hall of Fame.

It was very exciting to have the super sprinter at Kolora to spell while he campaigned in Queensland towards the end of his career.

Daniel Morton is a brilliant trainer and a loyal client of Kolora’s when he campaigns in Queensland.

Scenic Blast won $1.6 million in prizemoney.

IN VINTAGE FORM

25 November 2014

PROMISING filly Vintage Bon showed she could be a stayer of the future putting together back to back wins at the Sunshine Coast last preparation.

The three-year-old filly, who was placed behind star three-year-old Looks Like The Cat as juvenile, showed a great finish to come from last one the turn two starts in a row to win over 1400m and 1600m.

Vintage Bon was broken in and pre-trained by Koloa Lodge

She is currently spelling and will return in time for the Queensland winter carnival.

Her trainer Les Ross has been a long time client at Kolora.

TEAM MEAGHER FLYING

25 November 2014

BARLEY a week goes by where John, Dan and Chris Meagher don’t train a handful of winners.

The father and son team have one of the best strike rates at Eagle Farm and it is a pleasure to having their horses at Kolora Lodge to spell and pre-train.

On Sunday they unearthed an impressive winner in Diamond Glow at the Sunshine Coast for the same connections as Coolmore winner Brazen Beau.

We wish Team Meagher all the best for the future.

KOLORA HOME OF CARNIVAL STARS

Srikandi is also enjoying some time on the water walker.

Brisbane Cup placegetter Zephyron is spelling at Kolora. Team Hawkes regularly use Kolora to winter their horses.

Long time client Paul Messara has Havana and Limehills preparing for their next campaign.

The Freedman family, who have been with Kolora for several years, left Waldpark in town to enjoy a break.

South Australian star Hucklebuck is also enjoying time at the property.

VALE GUY WALTER

16 July 2014

KOLORA Lodge wishes to send our sincerest condolences to the family of champion trainer Guy Walter.

We were privileged enough to look after a number of Guy’s horses. He was always a pleasure to deal with and his horses were always in impeccable condition.

It is an honor to have his last Group 1 winner Streama spelling at the property.

Guy’s legacy will live on at the property. His brother Jamie, through his Proven Thoroughbreds, will always be a welcome visitor here.

We wish the entire Walter family the very best during this difficult time. He was a true gentleman.

HIGH FIVE FOR HEINRICH

16 July 2014

GILLIAN Heinrich created history at Ipswich on May 21 when she became just the fourth trainer to prepare five winners at the one Queensland TAB meeting.

The Gold Coast trainer, who spells and pre-trains her horses at Kolora, produced Lush Belle, In Full View, Storming Pleasure , Eliminator and Walkin’ Tall to win.

She is the first woman to train a quintet in the Sunshine State.

Heinrich is a loyal client at Kolora and we enjoy breaking-in, pre-training and spelling all of her team which she races with husband Hoss.

Congratulations Gillian!

THERE'S AN INKLING HE GOES GOOD

16 July 2014

PETER Snowden's boom two-year-old Inkling was broken-in at Kolora Lodge.

The juvenile set tongues wagging with a breathtaking victory at Warwick Farm on debut. It had many southern scribes comparing the horse to some of Snowden's former team at Darley.

We remember the horse well. He was a striking individual and we enjoyed having the opportunity to break-in such an athlete.

The horse is raced by popular breeder Peter Moran and we are proud to break-in all his horses.

We look forward to watching Inkling's progress.

MAGIC MOMENT FOR A SIR

16 July 2014

KOLORA Lodge resident Sir Moments unearthed himself as the star find of the Queensland Winter Carnival winning the Group 2 Queensland Guineas and the Listed Daybreak Lover Plate.

Sir Moments spells and pre-trains at our Waterford property.

Trainer Steve O’Dea, a long time client, regularly sends the exciting three-year-old out to our water walker to freshen-up mid preparation which has worked to great effect.

Congratulations to Steve and the team.

TURNING THE PAGE

16 July 2014

WE get a huge thrill when our local clients taste success and there has been plenty of it in recent weeks.

Helen Page, who spells and has her horses pre-trained at the property, is continuing to train winner after winner at the Gold Coast.

Her stable star Rudy performed admirably in the Queensland Winter Carnival including a placing in the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes.

Team Meagher galloper Revitalised tasted city success in April at Doomben. The horse used the water walker to great effect.

Kelso Wood, Bryan Guy, Les Ross and Lawrie Mayfield-Smith have all had winners in recent months and we are pleased to have them as clients.

BENNY HITS THE RIGHT BUTTONS

16 July 2014

KOLORA’S favourite horse Benny’s Buttons enjoyed a stellar winter.

He won at Doomben in March and then was placed in the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup, Winning Edge Stakes and the Group 3 Darley Sprint.

Benny’s career prizemoney is now almost over the $500,000 barrier.

The gelding was bred, broken-in, pre-trained, spelled and raced by Kolora Lodge.

Magic Millions winner Real Surreal, also raced by Kolora lodge, is back in work at Team Hawkes and will be set for the Spring Carnival.
