Situated in between the three biggest racecourses in Queensland (Gold Coast, Doomben and Eagle Farm). Kolora Lodge's pre-training centre is headed by trainer Peter McMahon and features all the resources needed to carry out the highest-quality horse racing pre-training in Queensland.

Our main goal with pre-training is to develop a horse’s fitness base prior to commencing a racing campaign.

As a vastly experienced horseman, Peter has grown up surrounded by horses and that passion has developed into the very successful business he has created with his wife Michelle Lang-McMahon.

Pete's experience, expertise and eye for detail, ensures each horse is given an appropriate individual plan through the early stages of its preparation, allowing every opportunity for success when race day arrives.

We have worked alongside elite trainers such as Helen Page, Kelso Wood, Steve O'Dea, Chris Waller, Gai Waterhouse, Mick Price, Chris Anderson, Hawkes Racing and Toby Edmonds just to name a few, to work out a pre training regime that caters to each individual horse's fitness levels and abilities. A partnership that we pride ourselves on having for the benefit of each horse that come through our gates.

Depending on your horses specific needs we can cater to what ever training you want to focus on. Whether it be brushing up on those barrier skills, gaining some more fitness on the treadmill, rehab work in the water walker, teaching balance and responsiveness through dressage training on the arenas or engaging their brain over some jumps. We can tailor a program to suit!

On average we have pre trainers in work here for 3 - 6 weeks and by the time your horse is ready to leave they are able to do consistent 3/4 pace, jump out of the barriers in a respectable manner and work along side others happily. We know each horse is different and our riders each keep to their own horses as much as they can to ensure a more personal one on one experience.
